Go to the main How to Play page for a step-by-step guide to taking part in Millionaire for Life from any state.
There are nine ways to win Millionaire for Life prizes, from matching as few as two of the six numbers. Match all five main numbers and you’ll get one of the ‘for life’ prizes - $100,000 per year if you miss the Millionaire Ball, or $1 million a year if you hit the extra number too! Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see a full table of payouts.
How to Claim Prizes
Millionaire for Life may be a multi-state game, but winning tickets must always be cashed in the same jurisdiction where you played. Each state has its own process for claiming. Here’s how to claim prizes in Connecticut:
- Prizes up to $599 - You may claim by mail or from any CT Lottery retailer. Keep in mind that some retailers may not be able to pay out larger amounts in this prize bracket, as they may have their own policies regarding how much cash is kept on site.
- From $600 to $5,000 - There are three options. Mail in your ticket, visit the CT Lottery Headquarters, or go to one of High-Tier Claim Centers in the state.
- Top two prizes - You’ll need to make an appointment to claim your prize in person from the Connecticut Lottery Headquarters in Wallingford.
For prizes of more than $600, you will need to complete a claim form and provide at least two valid forms of identification, such as your passport, driver’s license or Social Security card. The address for mail-in claims is as follows:
CT Lottery Claims Dept.
15 Sterling Drive
Wallingford, CT 06492
How long do I have to claim prizes?
All lottery prizes in Connecticut must be claimed within 180 days of the relevant draw date.
Will my prize be taxed?
All prizes above $5,000 are subject to federal tax of at least 24 percent. State taxes also apply at a rate of 6.99 percent on prizes over $5,000.
Can I stay anonymous if I win?
If you win one of the top two prizes, the CT Lottery will not publish your name without your consent. Someone may file a Freedom of Information request to try to get it disclosed, in which case you would need to produce a valid protective order or Address Confidentiality Program authorization card. It is also possible to claim through a legal trust to preserve anonymity.
Connecticut 'for Life' History
The Connecticut Lottery had previously offered Lucky for Life from March 29, 2009, to February 21, 2026. The game offered a top prize of $1,000 per day for life and was popular in participating states, but it was later decided to scrap both Lucky for Life and Cash4Life to make room for a new national ‘for life’ game which would be bigger and better.
Greg Smith, President and CEO of the Connecticut Lotter, emphasized the appeal of ‘life-long’ prize structures for players in the modern world as tickets went on sale for Millionaire for Life. There were 2,260 prizes won in Connecticut in the first draw on February 22, 2026.
