How to Claim Prizes
If you win a Millionaire for Life prize, sign your ticket and mark it with your name and phone number so you can make the claim. Claiming prizes is a different process in Wyoming depending on how much you win:
- Prizes less than $599: Claim them at any licensed Wyoming lottery retailer. Present your signed ticket and proof of ID to the clerk and you should be given your winnings.
- Prizes of $600 or more: High tier winners are required to mail the winning ticket, photo ID, and potentially Social Security proof to the Wyoming Lottery Headquarters or present them in person.
- Jackpots: Claimed in person at the Wyoming Lottery Headquarters. You must present the ticket, photo ID, Social Security Proof, as well as a completed Winner Claim form.
Claiming by Mail
To claim by mail, send the relevant documentation to:
The Wyoming Lottery

Claim Period
In Wyoming, you have 180 days (about six months) to make your claim. After this time has elapsed prizes expire and the funds given to the state to benefit local communities.
Taxes
If you win $5,000 or more, the Wyoming Lottery is legally required to skim 24% off the top for federal taxes before you even see the check. Since your total tax bill depends on your specific income bracket, that initial cut might not cover everything you owe. That’s why it’s a good idea to speak with a tax professional first to find out exactly how much you are getting.
Anonymity
In Wyoming, you can remain anonymous if you win Millionaire for Life. Personal information is not shared unless you directly express permission.
Cash Lump Sum Option
You can pick between annuity payments or a lump sum cash option if you win either of the two jackpots. The lump sum options are as follows:
- Jackpot: $18 million
- Second Prize: $2.2 million
Wyoming 'for Life' Game History
Before Millionaire for Life, Wyomingites played Lucky for Life, which launched in the state in 2016. A popular draw game, its $1,000 a day for life jackpot (around $365,000 a year) was ultimately to be replaced by Millionaire for Life, a draw game that triples the jackpot, significantly increasing the potential lifetime winnings compared to its predecessor.
Launched in 2026, its structure follows more similarly to Powerball or Mega Millions and now sits proudly alongside them as one of the premier country-wide draw games. Wyoming Lottery CEO Jon Clontz described the new game as putting "millionaire on repeat".
