North Dakota 'for Life' History

Replacing the Peace Garden State’s popular Lucky for Life, Millionaire for Life’s first drawing was held on February 22, 2026. The North Dakota Lottery – along with about 30 other states – moved to this new game to offer much larger lifetime prizes. While Lucky for Life offered a top prize of $1,000 a day, the new game nearly triples that payout to $1 million every single year for the rest of your life.

The Director of North Dakota Lottery announced the new draw game as having the “excitement of a daily draw” except with a top prize of “$1 million a year for life and a secondary top prize of $100,000 a year for."
