How to Play Millionaire for Life in Idaho
Whether you play Millionaire for Life in Idaho or any other participating state, the game works the same way. Start by picking a total of six numbers – five from 1 to 58 and one Millionaire Ball from a separate set of 1 to 5. The following rules are also specific to Idaho.
- The minimum age to play is 18
- Ticket sales close at 8:15 PM MT, ahead of the nightly drawing at 9:15 PM MT
- You can enter up to 35 consecutive drawings (five weeks) via the Multi-Draw section
An Idaho-only feature was also available when Millionaire for Life first launched, with players able to enter a special Second Chance draw for the chance to win a trip of a lifetime to Paris, France. Similar Second Chance promotions may be offered in future.
For full step-by-step instructions, go to the How to Play page. To win a prize, you’ll need to match at least two out of six numbers. For the jackpot of $1 million a year for life, you must hit all six.
How to Claim Prizes
There are a few options for claiming prizes in Idaho, but it all depends on how much you win. Keep in mind that if you buy your ticket in a different state, you’ll have to redeem any prizes you win in that state too. The overview below only applies to how to claim in Idaho.
- Prizes up to $599 – The easiest way to claim a prize in the lower categories is to take your winning ticket to an Idaho Lottery retailer. Alternatively, send in your winning ticket by mail.
- Over $599 – Mail in your winning ticket or visit the Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise. You’ll need to provide a claim form and valid ID such as your driver’s license or passport.
The address of the Idaho Lottery headquarters is shown below if you are looking to claim by mail:
Idaho Lottery
1199 Shoreline Lane, Suite 100
P.O. Box 8687
Boise, 83702
How long do I have to claim a prize if I win?
If you bought your ticket in Idaho, you have 180 days from the draw date to come forward and claim your prize. If you win one of the top two prizes, you must decide when you claim it whether you want to take the annuity or the lump sum.
Will taxes be withheld on my prize?
The Idaho Lottery is required to withhold 24 percent in federal tax, and 5.3 percent in state tax, on all prizes over $5,000.
Can I stay anonymous if I win?
No. The Idaho Lottery discloses winner information such as name, city, county and prize amount. It is regarded as a matter of open record.
Idaho 'for Life' History
From January 27, 2015, until February 21, 2026, the Idaho Lottery was part of the multi-state Lucky for Life game, which worked in a similar way to Millionaire for Life and had a top prize worth $1,000 a day for life.
When Millionaire for Life launched, Idaho Lottery Director Andrew Arulanandam said: “Millionaire for Life will give our winners that jackpot-winning feeling every year for the rest of their life. The top prizes in this game are truly life-changing events.”
Millionaire for Life doesn’t just enrich winners’ lives either. Ticket sales for the game help to support public schools and buildings, benefiting the lives of millions of people in the state.
