How to Claim Lucky for Life Prizes

Find out about claiming prizes for Lucky for Life, as well as the claim period for each state. Remember that you can only cash in a winning ticket in the same jurisdiction where you bought it.

The process for how to claim a prize is largely the same everywhere; it is just that each state lottery has its own headquarters and regional offices where you may be required to go to redeem the biggest prizes.

Regardless of where you are, signing your ticket is always recommended, and it is then your responsibility to keep it safe until you come forward or mail it in.

Claiming Prizes

Here is a summary of what to do to claim different prize amounts:

$599 and under

Prizes of this value represent seven of the ten Lucky for Life categories, and the vast majority of payouts. All you need to do to collect your winnings is go to an authorized retailer in the relevant state and hand in your ticket. It will be scanned and you will receive your cash in return. Alternatively, mail your winning ticket in to your state lottery.

$600 and over

If you’re lucky enough to win this much, for example by matching four main numbers plus the Lucky Ball (value $5,000), you can either go to your local claim center or lottery office, or mail in your winning ticket. Make sure to fill out a claim form and include relevant photo ID if required.

Top Two Prizes

If you win the jackpot or second prize you should contact your state lottery directly to start the claims process. You will then be required to visit your lottery headquarters. You’ll need your claim form, government-issued photo ID, Social Security number, and your signed winning ticket.
